on a weird note, I need an opinion....I was thinking about (for little Christmas gifts) roasting coffee (various kinds) for my family etc. that drink coffee. Do you guys think that's a dumb gift? I'm finding I have to be "creative" this year. Stupid idea?

I think it's a great idea. Do you have a sealer? You could seal them up to keep them fresher. I have one if you don't. You're welcome to borrow it.

HEAVEN.

I'm in Heaven.

 Sure. I'm not sure it's required, but it would surely keep the beans fresher longer.

Permie, while I don't always HAVE to do things like that, I choose to do the more creative gifts. One year it was hand-crocheted dishclothes in the person's favorite colors. Another idea would be to swap with someone who makes something that you like.... (hint hint) to create gifts for your family that they'll really enjoy.
