Sorry, Neil.

We can do it together, I have been persuaded, and it did take some persuasion, to photograph my first wedding in 10 years (yes the last one I did was 10 years ago) So in two weeks time I am going to be having so much fun ............... NOT.

Wow. I bet you'll do fantastically.

neil_r wrote in post #8674641 (external link)
I really should have asked one of them yesterday, but I didn't, so if any of you guys know please tell me. What is that big ring attached to the sight for? Between shots they occasionally turned it by what looked like the smallest of degrees.

I think that it's...

short5 wrote in post #8674660 (external link)
It has to be a giant adjustment knob for the elevation rectal in the scope. If they indeed are very low power there will be substantial arch in the pellets travel which requires moving the rectal up or down. The giant knob would make the very easy and accurate though it seems odd. Are they very low power, or are they high power air guns, just low power compared to fire arms? The high power air guns are relatively flat shooting with drop off at the end of the pellets range.

...that...

If that doesn't answer your question, I can make up another one.

neil_r wrote in post #8674727 (external link)
Do you shoot in competitions I asked, Yes he said. How good are you? I asked, to which he replied. I have a Gold from the Barcelona Olympics, Two world championship Gold Medals and I have won the last three Commonwealth Games.

Oops,

So, I guess the answer was, "Yes, yes I do shoot in competitions."

How cool is that? I think it would be great to be able to hold up a Gold from the Olympics. Except if that gold was from the Trampoline. I'm thinking there isn't that much glory in that....

Good Morning Folks

It will be another long day in the trenches on the home front. 2 days until the outlaws get here, and LOTS to do yet.

DAN, great pirate avi's. :D

NEIL, lots of great sets of photos, those water spaniels are great looking dogs. And, that one shot of the Springer posing is fantastic. The tattooed guy is....well, just wrong. Great raptor shots, and yes, your favourite bird shot is the best, for sure. :D

KODY, nice to see some shots of Finlay, nice lookin' fella. :D

TIF, really cute shot of Jonathan with his teddy bear. :D

Great idea, it would be something they would like and could use. I used to always make practical gifts for family.

Marian and Colton just brought me warm buttery theater popcorn with a box of milkduds to go along with.

HEAVEN.

I'm in Heaven.

You can have it. ;)
I love popcorn, but not that stuff at the theatre, and Milk Duds are one of the last chocolates I would eat.
I had some lovely Lindt Dark Chili Chocolate last night, mmmmm. :D

For the record, I don't so much like the popcorn and milkduds now.

My tummy hurts.

Not sure I should say anything or not. As I will be the odd one out here. My parents and several of my friends parents were very strict. Just made us want to do what we weren't suppose to that much more. So, with my kids, I did lay out some ground rules, but for the most part was fairly lenient. They couldn't just go do whatever they wanted. They did have to ask me and we would discuss it. Sometimes I would say no, but most often it was yes. They never ended up in trouble and I felt comfortable that if they got drunk or in trouble that they would feel okay about calling me for help. With my parents, I wouldn't of called them had I been in trouble, for any amount of money if you kwim? I may have been wrong in how I raised my kids, but, I know how I reacted to strict parents . If the kids really want to do something they shouldn't, they will, and wouldn't you rather know about it and be able to talk to them about it rather than have them hide it? I dunno just my 2 cents.

Paula, I am not to far off that with how my past has played out. My parents were very loving and protective, and I was the oldest. They tried so hard to put restrictions on what I did, and I rebelled big time. In talking it over with them many years later, they admitted that they were likely too tight reined and should have been more lenient. By the time it came down to my youngest brother, he had much more flexibility in what he did. With our kids, we worked hard at instilling good moral values, and eased up on the reins a fair bit, as long as they were not doing anything stupid, and this did happen with the last one though he is finally coming around. You are right that if the kids want to do something, for the most part they will, despite our rules. I do believe things will work out great for our kids, despite my influence, they are still wonderful people.

A few years ago I was interviewing a guy for a job, he looked a bit like a bank manager (sorry Nigel) and on his CV is said that he enjoyed shooting. After the formal interview was over I said I shoot quite a bit what do you shoot, he replied I shoot 10 meter Air Rifle. !0 Meters, said I, I can spit further than that. He said possibly but not with the same degree of accuracy.

Do you shoot in competitions I asked, Yes he said. How good are you? I asked, to which he replied. I have a Gold from the Barcelona Olympics, Two world championship Gold Medals and I have won the last three Commonwealth Games.

Oops,

 WOW! Funny story Neil!!!

G'MAE all! I'm debating... it's raining... the boys want to go to the fair... do I take them now? Do I risk waiting and the rain getting worse (radar lookee not so promising..) Anyway that's this morning's debate...

I worked on cleaning my craft room yesterday! I want it ready for winter... That room has a fire place... so I want to be able to use it this winter!!! It's looking so much better!

So today is at some point going to the state fair... but NOT taking the camera this year that is FOR SURE!!!! Not with all this rain! hehehe

Sorry I missed talk like a Pirate day!!!

Does anyone know if you can set a password on just one file?

What . .

CrazieCricket wrote in post #8674262 (external link)
I dunno. Just some stuff I typed up in Microsoft Word and saved.

OK - Yes.

Like Ick said - Word lets you password encrypt files. In Word 2K it's File - Save As, and on the file name window there's a "Tools" option. Choose that and the General Options include "Password to open". About the same for other Office apps. Until Office 2007, it shouldn't be too different.

I do a lot of field shooting, but have not shot at targets since I left the army. These guys look to be using huge rifles but they are in fact very low powered air rifles which they shoot with incredible accuracy.

I really should have asked one of them yesterday, but I didn't, so if any of you guys know please tell me. What is that big ring attached to the sight for? Between shots they occasionally turned it by what looked like the smallest of degrees.

Opps, indeed. Did he get the job?

Yes he did, he decided to give up competitive shooting and concentrate on making money..... About a year after he started working for me and about 9 months after stopping shooting he asked for a few days off to take part in the UK Commonwealth Games qualifier, I said that I thought he had given up, he said that he had but that the guy that looked like he was going to qualify was an ass and he didn't want him to. Laughing I agreed and with borrowed kit, Nigel, for that was his name, not only qualified for the Commonwealth Games that was to be held in England he finished with a Bronze Medal

G'MAE all! I have an unfun day ahead. Hubby went and got our 5th wheel that we just bought from friends. We have to clean it. They left it a huge mess. A coke can exploded in fridge, yeah, they didn't clean it up. They were suppose to shampoo carpet, it didn't even get vacuumed. To say I am unpleased is an understatement. Really, when you sell something, don't you usually clean it for the next people to own it?

G'morning all.

Well we're going to shoot the renaissance faire today. I'm really excited, having never done one.

They sent us a note saying our pass just allowed us free entry..that we could be anywhere the public was so I guess it's no big deal but it was still exciting to get one.

Anyway, off to get ready. ttyl
