CrazieCricket wrote in post #8673979 Not sure I should say anything or not. As I will be the odd one out here. My parents and several of my friends parents were very strict. Just made us want to do what we weren't suppose to that much more. So, with my kids, I did lay out some ground rules, but for the most part was fairly lenient. They couldn't just go do whatever they wanted. They did have to ask me and we would discuss it. Sometimes I would say no, but most often it was yes. They never ended up in trouble and I felt comfortable that if they got drunk or in trouble that they would feel okay about calling me for help. With my parents, I wouldn't of called them had I been in trouble, for any amount of money if you kwim? I may have been wrong in how I raised my kids, but, I know how I reacted to strict parents . If the kids really want to do something they shouldn't, they will, and wouldn't you rather know about it and be able to talk to them about it rather than have them hide it? I dunno just my 2 cents. Paula, I am not to far off that with how my past has played out. My parents were very loving and protective, and I was the oldest. They tried so hard to put restrictions on what I did, and I rebelled big time. In talking it over with them many years later, they admitted that they were likely too tight reined and should have been more lenient. By the time it came down to my youngest brother, he had much more flexibility in what he did. With our kids, we worked hard at instilling good moral values, and eased up on the reins a fair bit, as long as they were not doing anything stupid, and this did happen with the last one though he is finally coming around. You are right that if the kids want to do something, for the most part they will, despite our rules. I do believe things will work out great for our kids, despite my influence, they are still wonderful people. eddarr wrote in post #8674335 Hey did you guys hear the one about Mr. and Mrs. Smith who wanted to have a baby? Did he get the job? Yes he did, he decided to give up competitive shooting and concentrate on making money..... About a year after he started working for me and about 9 months after stopping shooting he asked for a few days off to take part in the UK Commonwealth Games qualifier, I said that I thought he had given up, he said that he had but that the guy that looked like he was going to qualify was an ass and he didn't want him to. Laughing I agreed and with borrowed kit, Nigel, for that was his name, not only qualified for the Commonwealth Games that was to be held in England he finished with a Bronze Medal Neil - © NHR Photography

Hubby went and got our 5th wheel that we just bought from friends. We have to clean it. They left it a huge mess. A coke can exploded in fridge, yeah, they didn't clean it up. They were suppose to shampoo carpet, it didn't even get vacuumed. To say I am unpleased is an understatement. Paula
