I updated this computer to the latest version of Firefox last night. Y'know... I'm really, seriously, truly, hating this crappy software more and more with every update. I just checked the software archives on one of my external hard drives, and I see I still have v2.0. That's when Firefox was a great browser! But, I didn't save any of the extensions I used with that version.

I think I may give Opera another look... :( :( :(

Yep. I tried it two or three years ago, and was less than impressed. I think it was a beta version for PCs back then, though. I'll add that to my list of browsers to try again.

BTW, nobody suggest Google's Chrome. I won't try that one again... ;)

I have not had issues with Firefox. I like it and it's quite stable for me.

Firefox works well for me, both on my XP desktop and my Vista Laptop...

Oh, it's stable. I have no problem with that.

But, it's become bloatware! Major bloatage. Way too slow to load any more. Even Photoshop loads faster than Firefox on this computer, and that's just wrong. (And, no, I don't have a lot of extensions installed).

I also wish I could turn off some of these new "features", like when I open a new tab, then am forced to wait a few seconds while it generates thumbnails of the last nine web pages I visited, to decorate the background of the new tab. My "home page" is set to "about:blank"! That is what it should be using for the new tab. I don't need to see tiny versions of the last nine web sites I visited!

I'm happy with firefox both on Mac and PC....

I've had to use themes to make then useable for me though (I don't really care for the user interface as released).

Are you talking about firefox there? If so, then I've never seen this thumbnail thing that you speak of...

Same here. Maybe it's a setting that Lonnie has turned on?

I'm not finding it to be slow at all.

Yep. I'm talking about Firefox. The latest update is doing this on my laptop and desktop. It happened first on the laptop, so I avoided the update on my desktop as long as I could, but the little update window popped up yesterday while I was typing up something in another window, stole focus (another huge pet peeve of mine), and assumed I wanted to update Firefox...

Hmm... that's not happened to me. Usually any notification windows that pop up have been inobstrusive and sometimes I've simply not seen them.

Maybe one of your few plug ins is helping a bit more than it should be...

Try disabling all of your plugins and only enable the ones that you really can't do without and see how things go for a while.

I'm gonna uninstall all of the extensions I have, then add them back in one at a time and see if it's one of those that is causing me these headaches.

But, the "problem" began when I updated Firefox yesteray... I haven't updated an extension since then.

Yeah, me neither... All I get when I open a new tab is a blank page called "Untitled..."

No wonder I shoot like carp. I always thought it was a retical.

Good morning, everyone. I'm here, but I'm also gone for the day......out of town guest.

Oh! He was talking about the reticle! Suddenly things become more clear.

You usually expect something better than the general public gets when you get a media pass, but some places have no regard for the media. I got a media pass for a local airshow a couple of years ago, but I had to pay to get into the venue to pick it up and then I was denied the access I was promised. Doubt I'll ever go back to that show...

Renaissance Fairs are on the order of Disney World or Six Flags. They're basically long-running entertainment and there really isn't anything "behind the scenes" to offer, nor is there really anywhere other than in the general viewing areas that a mundane wouldn't get in the way or at least stick out like a sore thumb amidst the Rennies.

What happens to me with FF and SeaMonkey latest. Maybe you've got it set up to open new windows and open to last page viewed?
