Amazon had it for 1800 yesterday but now it says "Out of stock". So is it released or not?

It was only available for pre-order. It won't actually be released until (reportedly) later this month.

Mmmmm, the 100mm 2.8L Macro could complete my Prime list.

I hope Gizmodo got the 15-85mm's price wrong... because U$D 800 for that lens sounds TOO MUCH! You could get a 17-40mm f/4L for less money... or spend a couple of Franklins more and get an EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS!

unless its meant to replace the 17-55 with a longer reach?

To give away the FF?
I wouldn't do it.

I would, based on your statement "hockey pics" The 7D should be a wonderful sport/wildlife camera, many like the 1.6 "in camera crop" for that sort of thing. But, you'd be hedging your bets on an unknown factor right now. I'm waiting for a review to tell me that Canon has done what they claim to vis-a-vis noise reduction.
The 5D seems to win in the high ISO department, too - so indoor hockey maybe the 5D.
Also there is one pre-review that indicates that tracking a moving target using multi-focus points is problematic - is that important for your hockey pics?

the new AF should be pretty sweet. And with 8fps, you will likely get the shot you are yearning for. This, to me, sounds like an ideal camera for this situation.

What's the point of Canon coming out with the new EF-S 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS lens when they already have the EF-S 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 IS lens? There doesn't seem to be much difference in these two lenses other than the obvious.

Is the expectation that the new 18-135 IS lens will come down in price and become a kit lens for 1.6x crop cameras (replacing the 28-135 IS lens)?

^ If you don't like them then don't buy them... Canon is just offering more lenses and gives people more options to choose from.

I personally think the 15-85mm will be perfect for everyday shooting.
