You downsize those 6400 ISO images and they should look like 1600 to 2000 ISO ..

Good point, which brings up another. Equalize these images to the same pixel dimensions as the 50D or 40D and compare - It could be that the 7D is a bit cleaner than both.

Looking at the images on Rob's site 6400 ISO look pretty darn good...They are usuable for sure especially if you are printing at 13x19 or smaller

How many of us actually print that large anyways lol

Plus you have to look at the amount of customization this camera offers for AF, button layout (usage). The AF alone will be nice.

I just pre-ordered mine.

I sold my 5D II awhile back and completely regret it. I cant justify selling my 40D, 10-22, & 17-55 and buying another 5D II Kit & 17-40L and spending $2000-$2200 difference.

This route allows me to ditch my 40D & 17-55 and get a 7D & 24-105L and pay a difference of $1300ish.

I dont expect the ISO/IQ to be on par with a 5D II :( but oh well. The new features/video look amazing... This is what a crop camera should be.

Man,

I can't wait for the next iteration of the 1D, to hit Nikon where it hurts, and to give me a tool worthy of upgrade. That being said, I have a strange inkling to dump my 5D to get one of these...

P.S. You guys can complain all you want...But I know you all have that little Canonite in your heart sighing... this is a step in the right direction. And this is what bonds us all together on this forum.

You might consider keeping the 17-55 - 24 mm isn't very wide on an APS-C body.

I know that, I just dont shoot under 24m i noticed. I have a 10-22 if needed for wider shots. I want something a lil longer. Ive already had/sold the 24-105L and miss it dearly.

Not sure anyone pointed it out yet or not, but these samples were done with different lenses. 100mm macro for the 5D and 28-135 for the 7D. That is likely 99% of the difference in detail. Noise is probably the only thing that is fair to compare in those shots. 100mm macro is probably in the running for the sharpest lens Canon makes and the 28-135, well, lets just say it is not.

Sure 50 bucks for the second battery sounds good if we agree to terms on the camera. :p

It was more tongue in cheek. Although I do like some of the features! I think I would shoot the thing in MRAW too since I don't need all those pixels. If the AF is good (like close to 1D good) I might actually consider picking one up when the price comes down a bit. This is the first camera in some time to gain my interest.

7D bodes well for future cameras to come, new 1Ds and 5D.

I was wondering why Canon insists on putting the 28-135 IS as a kit lens. It is not the best lens out there and people think IS performs miracles. I've had a lot of soccer moms asking me why their 28-135 isn't very fast. I let them borrow my 70-200 2.8 IS on their Canon's and they always ask, "How much is that white lens again?" The price is high, but the 28-135 doesn't make the 8fps perfect.
