ya i just saw that, but lists only white (which is the weirdest thing). does this fit on some other white L lens?

I think Adorama just made a mistake. The product number definitely refers to a black tripod ring. Canon lists the part on their Japanese site here (external link). The only currently compatible lens is the new 100/2.8 IS macro.

Looks like Adorama's $190 price is what it's going to cost in NA.

Oh, this is tantalizing: according to UPS tracking, my lens arrived at a sorting facility about three miles north of me. It arrived there about 13 hours ago. However, the tracking information still lists a delivery date of Wednesday. Any chance it will come tomorrow (Tuesday)? Anyone wanna place bets? :D

In my experience, UPS will hold a package locally as long as necessary to avoid delivering it early.

Yeah, that has happened to me at least once before. I suppose they don't want people ordering their cheaper services in the hopes that something might arrive early. I can't recall anything ever having come early from them, but hope springs eternal!

This is definitely true. Back in Feb when I ordered parts to build my computer, they sat in Des Moines for DAYS, instead of moving closer to here. It made absolutely no sense to me. A couple weeks ago I got a hard drive that also sat at our local UPS center for over 24 hours, for no good reason.

I had two packages arrive early with UPS in all my experiences. I was happy those times, obviously. But it does seem at times as if a package is being held locally for no other reason than for it to be delivered "on-time", i.e. not early. At least I have never received anything late (due to the carrier -- retailers are another story).

For those that own this 100/2.8L and the 100/2.8,

i've noticed personally that most L lens produce better colours than non L lens eg. 17-55/2.8 vs 24-70/2.8

I've owned the 100/2.8 and it was very sharp, but how about the colours on this new 100/2.8L lens, any additional feel/pop to the colours or the same as the 100/2.8?

I'm considering getting the 100/2.8L

thanks
Raymond

Predictably, UPS did not deliver the package early. However, another package coming via FedEx Smarpost (which is notorious for being poorly routed and often late) came two days early! So I still have no lens and no 7D, but now I've got a couple of nice CF cards to look at. So it goes...

Shoot. Shoot. Shoot. Another one for my list.

I've owned both and have to say the color and contrast is very close but there is a slight edge on the new L version which seems to require less use of my vibrancy controls in CS4 to bring out the color pop I'm after. That alone wouldn't be enough of a reason to upgrade so its a good thing that the now included IS, nicer bokeh and weather sealing does. Having not to buy the hood separately also doesn't hurt.

I think Canon has a winner here.

Cheers!

They're the appetizer for the main course and the dessert!

I got my spare LP-E6 batteries and CF cards about three weeks before getting my 7D, so I had a teaser and a while to wait as well.

I just received mine. This thing is sharp. And the IS is near-silent; much.., much quieter than the one on my 24-105L. (And I thought that was quiet..!) WOW..!!

No PP done here; only conversion to JPEG.

If I didn't know any better, I would say that you do product photography for ads. This one certainly looks like it could be one!

Edit: Just saw your website. Pretty good stuff in there!
