It looks like the 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (external link) is there too.

Better not be a real retail. 15 but an EFS? What a waste? Not a UWA...well, is ish. Slow but has IS. Or...the wide range of actual UWA's and even a fast Tokina 11-16 F2.8 when most don't use IS or shoot fast with UWA's anyhow.

I won the Tok so no attacks on, "I'd want IS" or "I shoot wide open" So do I, but most?

It's more expensive and lacks USM.

It's pretty much the dream walkaround for me. Maybe make it at least f/4 constant, but whatever.

Canon finally made a 24-105 equivalent for crop. $800 bucks though? Yikes.

MSRP...

I am betting they won't sell many until it hits sub $500. I mean 15-85 is cool and all, but it is f5.6 on the long end. At $800 you are within reach of a 17-55 IS which is a truly stellar lens. Now if it performs like a 24-105, that may change things.

and It is actually 24-135mm equivalent.

That's what I meant...

and you are definitely right about the price most likely dropping. I think most people would stick to the 17-55. But I never felt 17 was wide enough on a crop sensor for me.

I like the concept and the design, but I would not pay 800 dollars for a lens without 5.6 on the tele end. Not a chance.
