I'm sure they do. But considering the 1.3 cameras are 3-5 times as expensive and the lenses purchased by this group likely FAR outweighs the 1.6 croppers it would make sense to make SOMETHING for them! But I digress. I haven't had an optimal lens for this camera yet, why do I need one now!?!?

I guess they figure you guys like spending money and will buy the L glass anyway.

I imagine it is hard to find wide angle stuff for 1.3x without hacking some APS-C lenses.

But there isn't even a decent offering in the L series with the focal length I want. I might pay for it, who knows. I only have one L in my bag and it is the cheapest one you can buy.

Terribly hard! I loved my Sigma 17-70 on my 40D! I just want a similar focal length for the 1DMKII!

I agree ... the predecessor 17-85 was overpriced at $500.

I'm not going to complain about the price tag till i see the quality, If it's just a slight improvemnt over the 17-85 Then should have been around 650'ish

I am betting they won't sell many until it hits sub $500. I mean 15-85 is cool and all, but it is f5.6 on the long end. At $800 you are within reach of a 17-55 IS which is a truly stellar lens. Now if it performs like a 24-105, that may change things.

and It is actually 24-135mm equivalent.

It can't and it won't perform like 24-105F4

What's up w/ the text placement and font of these new lenses? The word "ultrasonic" doesn't look too "ultra" anymore =(

But you all have to admit, that's a great range. AND if its performance is near the 17-55, wow... that would really be an awesome walkaround lens. The 17-55 is just a little short.

I hope that Canon worked hard to make the 15-85IS lens shine and remove the Bad perception of the original 17-85IS.

I had a 17-55IS and sold it because of the short range , great lens, just wasn't for me, but i think that if the new lens comes close to the 17-55 it will be a winer

At one point the Nikon 16-85 was about $700, and the Sony 16-80 is about $750 now..

im still tempted to go preorder one at amazon just to find out if its any good
