JCL, I really enjoyed the samples. Thank you for the EXIF data that makes studying the pics very informative. Funny how real world shots look so much better than brick walls and focus charts.

You're welcome. I tried to shoot more outdoors yesterday but weather's not cooperating.

Gah- didn't bring the camera along with me to work this morning. kinda a foggy day - when I went to work I got a great view of the sun through the fog behind a lone tree covered in frost. Thinking this would have made a great shot and a great test for the lens.

one additional question - I was looking for filters on Adorama - and they all recommend "thin" filters for this lens. being new to this - what are the advantages of a "thin" filter for this lens over a "regular" depth one. I was planning on buying a 8x or darker ND filter if that makes a difference.

This lens is 15mm at full wide, and there is the risk that a filter will cause vignetting when at the wide angle end of the range. A slim filter is probably the way to go for anything that goes wider than 17mm.

I have not noticed any vignetting introduced by a filter on this lens. I'm using a standard B+W UV Haze, the non-XS (extra slim) model.

I have used a Kenko PRO1 Digital Wideband Circular PL (W) with mine and did nor see any vignetting at 15mm due to the filter.

I too have not experienced any negative effect from using a standard width B+W polarizing filter.

Sweet, that is good to know as I would much prefer to buy a standard width c-pol.

I was a (little) bit surprised myself when I found out from EXIF that these were at 3200, because they looked okay (sharpness wise) even on my 22" screen. With the 7D, I was able to get shots that I never dreamt of getting with a 40D.
