I am guessing he uses a T1i but doesn't use a grip because it makes it too large. Many people like the smaller size and weight of the Rebel line.

I doubt I will ever put a grip on my 40D for the same reason.

I was the same until I found the grip, now I can never go back, it just feels so strange without it:D

hehe I guess I am not the only one who likes to keep my camera light and "normal" sized. I also have a 40D and I don't think I will ever get a grip for it either simply because it would be too big and heavy to walk around with.
Though if I ever have enough money I would definitely get a 1D despite it's enormous size xD

use the cam or the grip? dont you like the grip or dont you like the cam?

Sorry - that's why I don't use a grip on the Rebel series of cameras. I find their small size/weight to be an advantage and, despite quite big hands, find it perfectly comfortable to hold and operate the camera. This is very much a question of personal preference, however, so let's not turn the thread into a 'grip vs no grip' argument :)

It is nice to see some pics of it mounted for perspective. (Also subscribing since this thread has been de-stickied.)

OMG, I think your wife and mine would get along pretty well. I think at least 25% of the photos she has ever been in have her in that same pose.

I doubt I will ever put a grip on my 40D for the same reason.

I usually have mine gripped, but lately i've been carrying my 30D around with me everywhere, so i dropped the grip off of it to save weight

it also balances better with the 15-85 without the grip, But when I use the 100-400 I very much prefer the feel of it with the grip for some reason..

However I also have found that the newer bodies [40D, 50D, 7D] feel a LOT better in my hand so im unsure if id bother with a grip for them...
