Bokeh samples!

35L vs 15-85. Ok, framing will obviously be different due to the focal length. But this demonstrates the bokeh of the 15-85, which is very good for a zoom lens! The distance to the Christmas ornament was approximately 4 feet, suspended in the air.

I tend to disagree. With the 85mm, there's way more compression than the 35L gave you. Almost any lenses @ 85mm (whether on FF or crop) is going to give you that kind of bokeh.
Get a 85L or 85 F1.8, stop down to F5.6, then we have a good comparison.
