Ever since I got the 15-85 it practically "lives" on my 7D, the 24-105 hasn't seen much use. Here's a test I did awhile back. The first and third photos below are from the 15-85, the second and fourth are from the 24-105. I didn't bring a tripod and let the IS of these lenses did the work.

Both of them look pretty sharp, and contrasts are similiar. Blown up, I think I would give a slight edge to the 15-85 on corner and edge sharpness.
I'm keeping the 24-105 because of its better weather sealing, which may be useful if I have to go out and shoot in harsh winter.

That 15mm definitely depicts the advantage for close-up landscapes too !

Hint: The first two letters are the same as the last two, and the number two has two of those two letters... :)

And... the city you live in is not to far either...

I have a PP question for everyone. I use PSE 8 to process my RAW images. They open in Adobe Camera Raw 5.5 where I can easily adjust exposure, white balance and cropping. I do not usually bother with too much more than that.

What it does not do is correct the peripheral illumination and distortion. I downloaded the recent update to DPP and made these adjustments to some of my shots. But when I reopened them in Adobe Camera Raw, all of my adjustment had been removed. It appears that I cannot use DPP and ACR together. One does not read the side-car information already done by the other. It just starts from the original.

Any discussion on this has my attention.

You should always use manual mode in your camera when using flash. The Flash will then give the right exposure with ETTL. It doesn't matter if you bounce or not. The flash will just add power to get the exposure right.

1/125 f/5.6 ISO400 are what I usually start with and then use + or - FEC to taste....

And you are so right. I took this advice to the field and got great results. While on the "Santa Trolley Ride" I shot a couple of memorables on Manual Mode 125 sec, F8, ISO Auto 400, bounce flash. It balanced everything so very well. (sample not posted for privacy issues)

This is the wrong thread for your question ! Raw are dig negs, if you want to develop in dpp save as a tiff and open that in PS to work on.

Thank you for the processing tips, but that did not answer the question.

Although you feel I am confused, I put that question here for a specific reason, that being the distortion issue with this lens. If this thead only contains pictures for compliments, then it is pretty shallow and will die soon enough. I wanted to discuss issues with the lens besides the fact that I like it.

You can export from DPP directly into Photoshop, but I don't know of a way to export from DPP to Adobe Camera Raw other than to save the image file after processing with DPP, then open that file with ACR.

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

It's entirely to be expected, I'm afraid. Adobe and Canon do not share their file formats and RAW processing details with each other. (OK, Adobe's DNG format is available, but Canon won't use that). Each RAW processor starts with the unmodified RAW file and only applies its own parameters to the processing.

Fair enough, you never mentioned the lens was the 15-85, just said you had a pp question you want people to discuss in here and I was trying to help you get a better response :)
