Why 70-200 f/2.8 IS? Why not 100-400L Everything?

I see the term "Prime" used for lenses, what exactly is a prime lense?

A prime lens is a lens with a fixed focal length. Prime lenses are commonly known to have faster AF, sharper pics, and all at lower prices compared to similar focal length zooms. Some examples below:

PRIME: 400mm f/5.6L
