I rented an umbrella/lightstand today.
I've only shot bare flash before this.
so I took the girls out to the park.

Sweet expression and the 7 is also funny.

Only in the 1 and 3 i see some uncertainty during the pose.

By "the girls" I am assuming you are talking daughters?

#2 - (delacately) being a guy my attention is immediately drawn to her chest. If this was your intention then well done.

#6 - I love the moody feel of this. That half of her face is hidden brings mystery.

#7 - Lighting/color/comp is spot on. This is a really fun image.

Male or female, I don't think anyone's attention could go anywhere else. :)

Lovely images, you're lucky to have beautiful friends that like modeling for you (or at the very least accept to do it :P )
#2, 5, 7 and 8 are my favorites ^_^

No idea on your budget, but you can start out on lightstand / umbrellas flashes pretty cheap.
I started with some second hand nikon flashes and cactus v4 triggers, but if you just get a cheap lightstand, swivel, umbrella and pc sync cable, you can start for about 150 dollars in total or less.

Pro tip though, number your images :D

nice shots!
#2 is a little blurry how can you not like that one?
#4 there's a tree coming out of her head..

Good shots and lighting, just work a little more on the poses and your golden!

My favorite is the rock one. The PP in this one is very good.

#2, The focus is not on her eyes, then I quickly realized that you focused on the wrong set of eyes. :D

I would also suggest watching your backgrounds a little better. In a lot of these the trees are sprouting from their heads. Additionally, I feel that you need to set your white balance. The WB is very different in each one. Especially the skin tones. I realize that you are trying different PP styles which have a big impact on the WB, and that's fine. But, I found that when I do "sets" I try and stick with one PP style. It just works out better.

I will say that your lighting is good.
Good job and hope to see more.

These are really nice, but their faces look a little airbrushed. #3 and the last one looks more natural.
