Look in the dictionary under "Lemmings" :D

A few months from now, these same people will be the ones starting thread after thread bemoaning any problem this camera might have and denouncing it and Canon for building a "lemon". Every firmware update will be dissected endlessly, and 6 months after the camera's introduction there will already be threads started about "wish lists" for the 8D (or 7D MkII, whatever).

Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong

I think you are the lemming.:D Why would you even click a thread about a pre-order of a new camera, to not expect people pre-ordering?

I would click it with the idea of offering some sober, rational thought about the insanity of racing to be the first on your block with the newest and latest toy, when it is untested and unknown. I would suggest we avoid the consumerism and frantic buying frenzy that created so many unhappy early adaptors of previous technology. I would suggest people be a little more immune to the corporate hype, marketing jargon, competitive one-upmanship, and outright penis envy that seems to motivate many consumers.

That is why I would click on it.

but....but...it's new and untested in the market :( I have to have it! My pop used to warn me against buying the first run of anything.

I'm just happy that 40d prices are now touching the $500 ranges.. So yes, please buy the 7d. I'm happy to buy an elcheapo 40d to help.

Amen to that, considering putting myself in the same line!

Maybe... They have a camera that is on its last leg, (think like a 10D or20D) they have been saving up there pennies and dimes, shooting here and there, and to step up to shooting weddings or sports they realize this might help them that little bit.

That or they just have a case of the "I wants"

Now all that said, there is noth9ing wrong with being an early convert. I really like windows 7 for an OS but I am also still using XP on 2 computers. So rather than making absurd comments about early adopters, and how they are just lemmings. Let them buy the Gear, you can sit back 1-2 years and then decide if you want to buy it or not.

Besides someone has to be the first to buy something.

Ok. You're wrong :)

All the people complaining about ISO performance already are just your typical pixel peepers looking to rain on a parade. If it shoots 8fps and has decent ISO performance in the 100-800 range then I'm happy as I've never needed to go above 800 for motorsports work. The 7D and a 1-series will be a perfect combination for me for motorsports.

You people have ordered something about which there is a great deal you do not even know?

What could possibly be a rational explanation for such behavior?

What's there to know exactly? All the wisdom spouted in DPR's inevitable upcoming in depth review? Maybe some more sample shots from random people?
