I was wondering the same thing and actually had asked the question. Google was my friend.

Simply go to bing dot com (not linked so that bing doesn't know where you came from) and search for Circuit City. The first link will be the sponsored link with the 15% cashback info. Sales tax in IL and FL only from what it says on the checkout screen!

$285 Cashback baby! Now to wait 60 days.

Expected delivery date was October 5.

thanks WCK!

What's there to know exactly? All the wisdom spouted in DPR's inevitable upcoming in depth review? Maybe some more sample shots from random people?

Just the truth about how good it does what they say it will do.

Apparently, that has no bearing on large numbers of eager spenders.

It's so true! However, I've looked at the sample images on imaging-resource.com (external link). Comparing the results from a 5DMkII vs a preproduction 7D, the results are striking. Even with the smaller pixel pitch, the 7D seems to hold pretty well at higher ISOs. Granted it's not beating the 5DMkII by any means, but it holds its own very well IMO. When you compare it to the 50D, you can see significant improvement at ISO 3200/6400/12800. I do notice some fine, tight grain on the 7D at lower ISOs, but I could imagine with a simple noise reduction post process the amount of detail retained is very VERY good.

For me, I'm still waiting on reviews of actual production models, but the results of the preproduction cameras look very promising.

I've read a few reviews and owned a few cameras, and the best place to find the truth is in actually using the camera yourself, shooting what you want to shoot.

I actually think the camera is very interesting, maybe even to the point of making the 1D series less important to me. But there is no way I'm going to buy it before a few thousand guinea pigs test it for me. I don't spend money based solely on what the manufacturer of ANYTHING says about what it will do. I want evidence, not advertising.

I wonder what the 1DMIII pre-order thread looked like.

I wonder what the 1DMIII pre-order thread looked like.

I used to be the person that would wait for reviews and hear other peoples opinions but then I realized something a lot of buyers don't... others opinions are just that, they are another persons view of something. My father used to swear up and down that he would never own or drive a Volkswagen as all the reviews said they were small compact cars that weren't good for bigger people. Then he borrowed my GTI for a weekend to drive to work and wanted to trade in his 300 for one.

It's fine to sit back and wait for reviews or to see if problems arise but I think the biggest thing is you need to use one yourself and see if it fits your needs. I bought my 40D when it first came out and was pleased with it, waited a few months when I bought my Mk3 because Drisley filled me with horror stories of broken AF but in the end I was pleased as well (and mine was a 52xxx that was in the recall range, had the submirror fix and was golden from there on).

Hah! Thanks for the bing cashback details. I had sold my 5DII a few weeks back as I wanted to save up for school. This 15% off makes the price very fair.

It looks like there are thousands ahead of me however. CC put my Delivery date at Feb 2010 :-). Hopefully if the supply situation gets better, things will ship out faster. Is worth the 255$ off though! The images look comparable and I think this will last me a few years till the 3D or 5DIII comes out with comparable specs.
