G3 lensmate is GREAT

Just to let you know that my G3 Lensmate arrived yesterday, and it's the best Lensmate yet--and the essential add-on to your camera. It is better made than the camera, fits very snuggly, color matched and finished with a cool polished ring at the threaded end just to set off the look of the camera. Of course, any lens adapter will block part of the rangefinder, and the internal flash, but let's be honest, who uses these evolutionary tails? The Lensmate is miles ahead of the Canon adapter in build quality, fit and finish, and the 52mm is smaller! Filters are less expensive, as well.

Anyway, last one to get a Lensmate is a Wally...

From what I understand you bougth the 55mm. Are we talking of digital mm or 35mm mm? (as in 28.8 digital mm for the G3 that would be 34-140 35-mm mm, if you still follow me

And my real question : they offer 55 and 58 mm. Any recommendation?

Yes, I got the 52mm adapter, but remember this is only a tube with a bayonet mount at one end (attach to camera) and 52mm threads on the other end. You can add filters, or telephoto or wide angle lenses (not something I am doing, I only use filters.) So I don't quite understand your discussion of the multiplication factor in your first post? The adapter not only allows for filters to be added to the G3, it also protects the lens and aids in hand holding the camera much like a 35mm SLR.

Curious, does the 52mm adaptor cause vignetting at wide angle?

No. But stack it with lots of filters and it will. I'm sure Susan Doel knows how many filters it takes to vignette the G3 (like holes to fill the Albert Hall...)

I'm on the same page of wait and see. Do I get the 52 or 58. I want to use all types of filters and add-ons. Anyone out there with first hand experience?

How does Canon's original teleobjective TD-DC58N and other Canon lenses fit with Lensmate?

Fits best with the 58mm adapter rather than 52mm adapter with stepup ring to 58 mm. I purchased both the 52mm to use with UV and Polarizer and the 58m to use with the TD-DC58N. They now have gallery of shots with the 52mm and 58mm so you can see the obsruction of viewfinder, AF obstruction with the 58mm.

So now for deciding which one to get: I've tried the G3 wide-angle adapter, and it's not quite wide enough for me. I know there are other brand adapters out there -- does anyone have any experience with one that they would recommend? That will determine which diameter lensmate I get....
