I just ordered a new 85MM f/1.2 EF L MK II using AMEX Rewards points for the great price of $1,275.70 :) I got it at J&R through ShopAmex for a list price $1,869.88 and applied 106,570 AMEX Rewards points for a savings of $594.18! It will be delivered to my office on Friday...just in time to get familiar with it for a 19th of September wedding I have booked :)

My 85MM f/1.8 is heading to the Sell Forum!

Life is good :)

129,776 points :)

So you're saying that all those points "counted" as only $594? :(

We're actually thinking of using the points for a new LCD TV.

Oddly enough, I used points to buy my Canon A510 :)

AMEX has a 10% off sale going on this month through ShopAmex...that's why I cashed in what I had and went for the 85MM f/1.2 now.

Since 2005 I have acquired for "free" my 100MM f/2.8 Macro, my 135MM f/2.0 EF L, and my 17-40MM f/4 L by cashing in Rewards points. As of this morning I now have 1 lonely point left in my Rewards account ;)
