I was fortunate to shoot the Aviva British Athletics Grand Prix at Gateshead international stadium on 31 August.
Here's a few pics, this was my first time for covering an athletics event, and it certainly took a while to get settled into the best angles etc:
#1 United States twice world champion long jumper Dwight Phillips wins the gold medal with a Stadium record long jump of 8.39 metres, giving him a second win in the UK this year after taking gold at the Aviva London Grand Prix last month
#2: World Gold medal GBR Heptathlete Jessica Ennis competes in the womens 100m hurdles.
400mm 1/2500s f/2.8 (too wide , next time would use 3.2)
#3/4: Russian Viktor Chistyakov wins the Pole vault with a stadium record height of 5.70 metres.
400mm 1/640s f/4
400mm 1/2000s f/3.5
#5: Christy Wurth-Thomas wins the womens 800m
70-200 1/3200 f/2.8
#6: World Silver medalist from last month in Berlin, GBR's Lisa Dobriskey wins the womens 1500M with a time of 4m 13.6s
400mm 1/2000s f/2.8
#7: Olympic world champion GBR Christine Ohuruogu Wins the womens 400M
70-200 1/1250s f/2.8
(I thought I was quick taking the shot before 1 second on the clocks, but she's already in the air!)
#8: US sprinter Tyson Gay who smashed the US record, only to come second to Usayn Bolt at the World Championships in Berlin last month. Wins the mens 100M with a time of 10.15 seconds at the Aviva British Athletics Grand Prix at Gateshead International Stadium 31 August 2009
400mm 1/2500s f/2.8
Notice US long jumper Dwight Phillips on the right, coming a close second!
As ever... any C&C greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.
