Well it feels great.
The firmware will probably be already on there.
I still have not updated my firmware since purchasing about 2 months ago. I will try and get around to doing it soon.

Enjoy your new camera :-)

I got my 5d II about 6 weeks ago and it had the new firmware installed. I suspect that yours will as well (I don't think any of them are sitting on store shelves, so odds are good the ones with the old firmware have long since been sold). You are going to love it!

When folks get a new camera, what first tests of the camera do they typically do to look for issues within the return time?

Look for dead pixels, hot pixels, some shallow focus tests, ?

Or do most folks just start shooting and figure they will have any problems that come up dealt with under warranty?

I am getting closer to buying a 5d mark ii and will spend the first time with the camera when I get it checking it out to see if I want to return it. I know some will say that is a bad attitude, but that what makes me most comfortable when spending that kind of dough.
