best polarizing filter?

I looking to buy a 67mm polarizing filter for my tamron 28-75 and canon 70-200 f4 lens. I'm shooting with a 20d... any advice?

Yeap. Hoya multicoated. I very recently got a 67mm Hoya Pro 1 off eBay. Not cheap, but since the polariser will be used mostly on sunny days I wanted something with a good multicoating. I see a "Pro 1 Digital" range has recently appeared (http://www.2filter.com​/hoya/hoya_pro1_digita​l.html. Not too much information about whether they are really much different, but heck - you've got to have "digital" in the name to sell

Tiffen just came out with a digital line as well.

What next? Digital cameras? I still love the fact that my hot-shoe mounted spirit level came in a package that was proudly labelled "DIGITAL". Guess the filters might have some claim to using the term if they are intended to be used in conjunction with the filtering built into cameras.

Don't think I'll be "upgrading" my new polarisers though - they cost an arm and a leg (at least 15% of the cost of each L lens). But if I were austinjames I'd at least try and find out more about these new filters.

This reminds me that I have still to upgrade to a digital backpack...

I bought the Hoya UV-PL-CIR Ultra. I wanted a filter that was only 5mm thick for my 17-40L. It's pricey but I like this filter.

It's funny, I went to an outdoor wedding last weekend (bright sunny day-we were at the beach) and there were no less than 5 people there with digital SLR cameras. I found it odd that I was the only one with a polarizing filter on my lens though.

I got the same one and I like it very much. Fortunately, all my lenses use the same 77mm filter size so I only need one.

One STRANGE thing about this filter (maybe it's true of all circular polarized filters) is that if you look through it backwards - hold it with the threads away from you - and rotate it, you don't see the polarization effect. At first I thought I had the wrong filter marked as polarized. However, when I looked through it the way the camera will, it worked as expected.

don't forget those digital speakers! (which are and always will be purely analog in terms of audio output. Unless we convert our brains to digital)

B+W and Heliopan use brass rings that don't tend to seize as the aluminum rings do.

maybe you can update the firmware on the filter if its digital to adjust to the thining of the ozone layer as time progresses

I think you've been standing under the ozone hole for too long mate!

What difference will you notice between the UV and the CP? I have a 70-200mm f/4
coming in this week.
