Nice to have you here Emily!

It's great to see the younger generation into photography!
Just another form of art that takes lotsa patients and practice.
The SX20 is a fun camera to play with...try the Black and White setting and some of the other creative settings.
Study other peoples photos and techniques you'll learn a LOT!
Maybe even more than you would from a book?

Take a look at my photos in my sig below.
Watch for others on here and by seeing you will get your own ideas.

Hi Emily

Hope you're having fun with the SX20 like I am too :)

Just a few comments:

Pic 1: Perhaps the acorn should be the subject in focus rather than the twig (???) in the middle of the pic. The horizon also slants to the left and makes me feel like I'm sliding off. The slanted horizon can be corrected using post-processing.

Pic 2: You could do this shot in B&W and it'd look awesome. I would've disabled the super-macro and let the texture of the tree bark show all the way up to the branches.

Pic 3: Doing a sepia might be appropriate for this pic. As the angel is your subject, you might have used the flash to fill-in the shadows in the wings (some detail was lost there). The little blue-red splotch at the bottom edge is also a little distracting in an otherwise neutral-coloured shot.

Hello Abdulaziz....welcome to the forum.....your photos are nice, but too large for the rules, which only allow 1024 pixels on the longest side. Please have a look at this.....https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=51022

Been trying to learn this camera, but thus far I love it.
Tried some really hard shots in a nightclub with very spotty lighting and came up with a few good ones. No tripod, edited for size and one b&w.

so far this is the best shot I've gotten. But it seems dark to me. The day was overcast and it was raining so maybe thats why.. It was on auto I think.

Your meter was thrown off by the bright clouds in the background; when you have a backlit subject like that you sometimes need to use some Exposure Compensation.

Could someone please suggest a good tripod for this camera (SX20)? Or could someone please direct me to the correct thread? Thanks in advance...

Tripods are discussed frequently in the Accessories and Storage forum. Start with the tripod/monopod sticky and go on from there.

New to the Canon SX20is still. Coyote was about 10 yards away. Picture was untouched. Can see how the camera in auto mode focused in on the grass and the fur is a little blurry but I still really like this photograph.

This was taken at dusk. I lightened up the trees a little bit, but there wasn't much else I could do with my skillset.
