Any PS experts that can tell me what I've done wrong?

All of a sudden I can't erase areas of adjustment layers. I must have hit something on the menus but can't figure it out. Only way I can work around is to simplify the layer to do this. Oh, I'm on a Mac and using PS Elements 6.

Anyone know the 'thing' to toggle?

Did you click on the mask in the layers palette first?
And you don't erase it. You use a brush to paint on the image, which will show up in the mask thumbnail.

Is any layer locked?
