I am currently having a little trouble with perspective distortion, so please disregard that as a criticism since i already know it sucks...lol.

however, i wanted to share some of these since i have been doing a bit of history reading on the Soulard area of St. Louis, MO. There is so much history down there!

For a bit of the history, i encourage you to head over to the Flickr pages where i typed a bit more in the descriptions. Also, i think this collection is something that will evolve over the coming months to include other neighborhoods of the STL area. So, if you have any comments on the collection format itself, i would be happy to hear. Thanks.

1) Entry to Soulard's Farmer's Market..

2) I will have to get back here to grab a better angle. But, this is the largest church in Soulard, Saints Peter and Paul. German Gothic design founded in 1849.

A couple of older houses that stand apart from the common "brick rows" of flats that define the south city portion of STL.

3) Another brutal shot that was crushed by time of day. Another to go back and reshoot. But, the house is cool. It was built by the owner of a brewery in 1874. Ha! A brewery owner in STL....who woulda thunk it.

4) Perhaps the coolest house i read about. This house had a crude form of air conditioning in 1876! Using ductwork and cooling pipes of water, the house created drafts of cooled air that circulated throughout the main rooms. Now that was cool. I bet all the kids wanted to play at Dr. Arzt's house in the brutal summers STL can have. While the first house is occupied, i doubt this one is. I couldnt even see any signs of activity around it....sad.

Don't know about access. I didn't attempt to get closer. However, that neighborhood is incredibly historic and worth the visit....as is Lafayette Square....if anyone gets the chance.
