Aussies in the know please tell me if $1499 is a good price on a new 70-200 2.8 NON IS
I've checked shopbot and it seems cheap but I am not sure. Oh, and what should I expect to get with it, (extras, bag etc?)

Dont bother, the salesman got it wrong, surprise surprise.

What lens was he really quoting? You could have taken that deal then and there because he offered it to you and he can't do anything about it as far as I know. When I bought my current laptop, it was a good one at the time (only about two years ago) but it was marked as $900. We questioned the shop and they realised their mistake, it was actually worth about $1400-1500 (can't remember the specific price) so we took it at $900!

Nah the first salesman didn't even have the brand right, I rang back to check and got an English as his first language salesman who said they cant even stock those lenses.

Cameras Direct have that lens for $1775. I have purchased a bunch of stuff of them in recent times and find their prices generally pretty good and the service is excellent. www.camerasdirect.com.au (external link)
