I'm sure there have been a few posts from our Toronto Airshow this year so I thought I would post mine. We did have great weather but lighting was harsh where I was. It was a good location but right under the sun, got a lot of washed out backgrounds.

So I ended up doing some quick edits to the skies to some of the pics that came out half decent. All I did was get a sky bg and at it as a layer, changed the mode to multiply and masked out the planes.

Here's a shot showing the conditions...

I always struggle with lighting at the CNE. Not only do you have to contend with the harsh backlighting, but after an act that uses smoke, the haze washes everything out. You won't do better for an A/C lineup than the CIAS, but unless you are shooting from the water towards the city, you are never going to get the ideal sky.

Thanks for looking guys.

I know it's unrealistic with the ideal skies, but if your going to edit washed out skies, you might as well go all out :) . I'll probably end up just changing the bg to a simple blue sky.

TM: Shooting at the EX is always a challenge, I'm really not sure what else to do except to try and get closer to the action (on the Ontario place side) and hope to catch the action opposite the light direction.
