Our little town has a Soapbox Derby every Labor Day Weekend.
My daughter decided she wanted to try it out this time.
I went out to shoot some photos of her, and got carried away taking about 650 shots.
As I was shooting, I got behind the finish line, and shot most of them from there.
The race organizers were chasing people away from there.
I thanked the guy for letting me stay. He told me that from the gear I had, it looked like I knew what I was doing, (I had my 50D with a 24-105 and my 20D with my 70-200 2.8 and 1.4 extender) and I was staying out of the way.
He also told me that last year there were too many people out there "trying to help" and one woman even broke her tail-bone when she tripped over the axle of a car.
Also, as I was shooting, I was approached by someone who asked if I was out there for anyone (as in a newspaper/magazine, etc.). I told him I was there for my own gratification.
He introduced himself, and gave me his card. He would like to get his editor to look at my photos because he couldn't get a photographer from the magazine out there today.
He was from Drive magazine.
Hey, I might get published.

Anyway, on to a few of the many photos I'm still culling through.

One of the few crashed that happened that day.

Last but not least, my daughter beating out the competition. She won both heats that she raced.

With the sun being behind the drivers, I was using my 580EX for fill flash for the finish line photos.
