most of them are over a hundred years old.
probably the designers were thrilled at their performance and went the whole hog in designer gear (< pun... makes one wonder about old 'gears':confused

Yes it rains and snow. The farmers back then must have been a little hardier though because they just sat in the rain or were smart enough to get out of it.

here is the tanker which filled those old steam engines that day
years ago they used buckets for the water, as can be seen in # 1 picture
where the saying 'don't kick the bucket' came from
