Visiting Berlin, and stopped today at the Monument to the Murdered Jews of Europe. I must say, the name appeals to me -- it has an honesty about it that makes the term "holocaust" seem almost sterile.

Its an amazing place. I tried to capture the feeling the best I could, but I don't think I succeeded. I did thing this picture was interesting -- it made me feel a little pedestrian, chimping amongst the hundreds of concrete rectangles that compose the monument. Its not much of a picture, but it does illustrate for me, personally, how utterly lucky I am -- if the worst thing I have to worry about it whether or not I "got the shot", well, then I am a lucky man indeed.

Anyway, on with the show.....

I'm sorry but I think I have to agree. I don't think you succeeded. It looks like a shadow on the corner of a building. I would like to the 'awesome-ness' of the monument or something.

I like the shot, but I'm not able to tie the image to what you were going for.

Matt, I just got back from Berlin, dresden, and munster.

From what I understand, the monument is supposed to represent graves for the untold millions. And the dip in the middle of the monument, where the pillars are overhead, is supposed to be you looking up at bodies stacked even higher. A very solemn monument indeed. Built over hitlers bunker from what I understand.
