I don't know if you did or not, but I get the feeling from these that you didn't use a circular polarizer because it looks like there is a lot of glare on the rocks and plants.

I like the comp of #3 the most. The first two's comps don't really work well for me. I would have preferred the FG rocks to be on the right side to balance out the compositions. They feel cramped to the left for me.

The last photo seems to be the worst off with a lot of polarized light flattening out the colours and contrast. Also, the comp for this one isn't as nice as #3. The waterfall feels pushed into the top corner too much and I think it needs more breathing space above it.

I did use a CPL here Green. My mistake was that I forgot to turn the CPL for polarisation to reduce the glare.

I'm sorry if the 1st two photos don't work well for you. If you want, you can move the rocks on the left and move it to the right for me. Nature has its way of doing things, right? :) I do love the 1st one and it's going to print on 24X36. The idea of the composition is to go from left to right. If you can take your eye and go left and go up to the falls and to the right and then to the water. It keeps the eye moving. I thought you might have learned this in school since you are an expert in media. I think some will agree with my composition and it isn't as complex however you may see it. Sometimes you are your own worst critique. :)

What, you can't move 8 ton rocks around where you want them? -hahahaha

Do you find you use a 2 stop or a 3 stop GND more often
for balancing land with sky type shots
I already have a 10 stop ND for water flowing type shots.
Your opinion would be great as I know you use these filters a lot in your work.
Thanks, jdizzle

Thanks for stopping in Max. :) I use the 2 stop and 3 stop GNDs more often for my landscapes. I also stack a CPL and sometimes an ND when I want to do longer exposures. The 10 stop ND is fun and you can hand hold a GND in front to keep the sky from blowing out. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Regards,

Me :)

Nice series Julian and #1 is my favorite. Looks like you got pretty low on that one.

Nice shots Julian, I still haven't made my way to this waterfall yet but it's on my list :). I think I like the first one the best. My only critique is the blown out sky coming through the trees at the top above the falls but that's kinda unavoidable unless you cropped a little off the top.

Thanks Ben. I really got low on my tripod in the first two photos. I get so excited when I come to a new place like this. I'm definitely coming back here for sure. :)

Thanks Daniel. I did crop it a bit. Funny you mention that the top looks blown out. I swear my histogram tells me it's not. :) Oh well. :)

These are all great shots. The first and last are my faves. It looks like a place you could spend hours at just trying different shots.

Second one for me man, although you should have gotten a chainsaw and sent that log downstream, because it's messing up my view j/k. Looks like the others have a slight blue cast to the water. Fresh water that is moving doesn't look too blue. Easily fixed though. ;]
