These lovely and mysterious creatures do not speak. They ignore adults and interact silently with small children.

Thanks, Geoff. No group email. Becky and I decided, literally at the last minute Monday morning, to go to the Ren Faire on the last day.

I don't ask permission from "cast members" at the Ren Faire. Those girls don't speak anyway, so if I asked they wouldn't answer. They're accustomed to being photographed though. It's not uncommon to find one of those girls literally surrounded by photogs snapping away.

As for the "playtrons" like the woman below (people who pay to get in and dress in period costume), I sometimes ask them to pose, sometimes just take candids. It depends on the situation, but I try to be polite. Ren Faires are photographer's heaven and those who dress the part expect the attention. After I took this woman's picture, I gave her my card so she can email me and I'll send her a link to my gallery.

Great shots. That would be fun to have them in studio with a green screen.

I guess one would have to have some experience to tell a cast member from a playtron. I have seen some photos from that Renaissance Faire that look like snapshots since the subjects are looking directly at the camera. That is just one aspect of why yours are so awesome!
