This is a follow-on from Die Fledermaus at ROSS

The next class to perform was was Clas B, and they were doing a forty minute extract from A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum - a very funny and fast-paced farce with wonderfully witty and clever lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Since most of the men were away being ladies in Class C (La Cage aux Folles), it seemed only reasonable that the role of Pseudolus - normally a male role - should be taken by a girl. She was on stage almost the whole time, and had had a huge part to learn

1. Comedy Tonight

3. Pseudolus tries to cheer up the dejected Hero (that's the character's name)

4. Lycus. Also normally played by a man, but this lady proved her mettle as a buyer and seller of Courtesans

8. Pseuldolus lies dead - poisoned. Or is he? I mean, she? Oh, whatever...

Not convinced I nailed these ones, but it's hard to be sure. I've just had laser surgery on my eyes, and while my distance vision is excellent the close-up focusing - such as is required for a monitor - has not returned to normal yet. I have another couple of weeks before returning to the optometrist to decide whether more treatment is required.

And of course, as time passes I am becoming ever more aware of, and annoyed by, the high-ISO noise from the 350D. I just need to keep saving for that 5D!

Class C will follow soon!

regards,
/alan

I think the issue is the lighting and set ... the captures are fine.

Thank you. I admit that the set didn't help - people in white on a black stage when you don't have spot metering...

Assuming that I find a replacement for my day job (which is coming to an end soon), I plan to replace the 350D with a 5D Mk II... I'm hoping to get a better keeper rate once I get there.

regards,
/alan
