I'm shooting a sweet 16 for a friend's daughter in 2 weeks. Since I've never shot a sweet 16 (or even been to one) I was wondering if a modified wedding shot list would work, just the reception aspect. Thanks everyone!

That's a good starting point. I would also ask her what she expects. She might want you to do almost all candids, or if she wants a few of just her. I'd also have her come up with any group photos she would like.

modified wedding shot list would work in most cases. but have her make a list of her own. a combination of your list and hers would cover everything! :)

It's actually a surprise. Not sure how the parents are going to pull that off. I guess i can ask her that day or ask her Mom.

Sense when did SWEET 16 become some big?! What happened to the good ole days of just cake and ice cream?

I would be careful about getting a shot list from them, and if you do, make sure you don't promise anything. I know many photographers wont use shot lists for weddings, even though they have done hundreds of them and are comfortable with the flow.
