All,

Just wondering what your are on the following... I just upgraded to 50d and currently own a 28-135 IS lens. I've never spent more than $500 on a lens, but seriously considering the 24-105L. For those that have used both a 28-135 and a 24-105L on a xxd Canon, can you provide me your views... I've got the long range covered with my 75-300 IS (which will be upgraded shortly to 70-300 IS), and I don't shoot a lot of landscape. Most of my shots, frankly, are of my family (two girls - 2 and 4 yrs old). Vacation pics include some landscapes, and maybe over time I'll buy the 10-22, but not too concerned right now about the 24-105 not being wide enough on a crop camera based on my shooting habits.

Another possible consideration is waiting a purchasing the 15-85 just announced.

Anyway, concerned about sharpness on a 50d w/ these two lenses and whether it's worthwhile to suck it up and spend the $$ on the L lens referenced above.

Thx.

Ill chime in for everyone and say get a 17-55is lol. Well I sold my 28-135mm cus it just wasnt doing it for me... but seeing as how you have lens adjustment tuning in your camera you can probably get better results than I have. I hear the 24-105L is a great lens however and would be a fine choice :D if that helps any.

Many people including myself eventually end up selling the 28-135 to upgrade to a 24-105 which is a significantly better lens in the right hands.

I don't know your experience level or finical situation but if either are low the 28-135 is a great lens to learn on, the focal range lets you do a lot of experimenting to learn your style and comfort range. I used mine for 2+ years before upgrading.

There are many discussions on this a search of this topic would revel a lot.

I have a 28-135mm that I use on one of my 20d's and a 24-105mm I leave on my 40d and love this setup to death. I was very impressed with the shots that came out of the 28-135mm/20d setup.
IMO unless your upgrading for a little more on the wide end (which 4mm's is not much) I would keep the 28-135mm for now if you like the shots your getting out of it and sell the 75-300mm and pass on the 70-300mm and go right for a 70-200mm f/4 IS. You will be blown away with the pictures you can get with it.

All the world's indeed a stage and we are merely players performers and portrayers.
