Hey there,

I'm having some trouble with my PS action and can't see to get it figured out. When using a unedited photo at the default 10MP resolution everything turns out fine. However when I crop the photo that's when it goes down hill. I sent the action to a friend of mine and he said it worked fine. So I'm not sure what's going on. I've never been to good at understanding PS, so any help would be much obliged.

Here is how it should look:

IMAGE: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y145/vroom_skies/Photography/Nature/Edit.jpg

Here's what I'm getting:
IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO | PHOTOBUCKET ERROR IMAGE

Thanks for everything,
Bob

What exactly is the action you are trying to perform?

And, you posted two entirely different photos -- how about you post the same photo -- one that successfully has the action performed and one that, like you say, comes out bad after cropping or whatever?

It's just the action for my border.
I can do it with the same photo if you want, but the issue lies within all photos that are cropped. So you'll see the exact same thing as above, just with the same photo.

The text on the bottom center of the first photo is correct (on the border). As you can see it's different in the second photo. That's what I'm trying to fix.

Thanks for your help.
Bob

This is weird, I'll update this in one second.
However, it seems my initial statement about the cropping was wrong.

I take that back.
It seems it has everything to do with cropping, or that's how I see it.

The action works fine on the default size 3872 x 2592 resolution. Or even if you resize the photo. It works fine with constrain proportions on or off, that doesn't matter.
Yet if you crop off just a few mm's of the photo then everything goes out the window.
What I'm confused with is this; take a photo that I edited months ago, that was cropped and the whole nine yards. Throw it through the action and it comes out grand.

I just don't understand it.
Ask any question you need and I'll try my best to answer it.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Check the dpi setting. My bet is that this is one of the few cases where dpi matters, and the top image is at 300 dpi, the lower at 72dpi.

Thanks for the idea, but it didn't seem to work.
With that being said, I could have done it wrong, so I'll just supply the action for you guys to test on.
*removed*
I'm sure the action has a lot of "bloat" in it, as I don't know PS well. So if you have any tips on better methods, I'm all ears.

Thanks for everything you guys.

Thanks you guys, it's now working.
You were right it had to do with DPI. However it had to be set to 72 and not 300 for some reason.

I imagine that, since Canon puts a default 72 PPI "tag" in the exif, that you would have to include a "Resize to 300 PPI" action in there to get it to work right.

Yeah, I had them backward. It's because PS sizes letters in points, not pixels: Two documents, same size in pixels, same font size in pt, different ppi:
