I recently did a various Sports mosaics for the head coaches at Stony Brook. I also did one from all of the sports for the Director. I was if anyone else was doing these, and if so what program are you using? I have a very complex action in photoshop which requires a lot of tweaking to get to work for each one.

The original is 16000x10752 pixel image which full detail on the individual cells.

You can use a program called AndreaMosaic. I'm the yearbook advisor for my school. I keep all the photos on a portable 1Gb drive. I put all the pictures in one folder and made one too.

I've been using Mosaic Creator which is like 10 years old now, but it still works with great gusto. :-) I'll have to check AndreaMosaic out see if it's any better/faster.

You can see one I did of marilyn monroe that was like 4000 images which I found on google. The only catch is the source material, not everyone has 2500-5000 digital images lying around all the same orientation.

Although there are ways of using both vertical and horizontal images, it's a lot more work in the front and have template has to be setup so that it comes out even.

This is awesome! It is very detailed. Are they going to print it and mount it somewhere?

It was printed at 30x20. I gave it to them yesterday no idea if it's going to end up in the trash, on a wall with pins in it, or actually framed and hung.

The one I posted was a test. I've got a little over 19,000 pictures going back to 2004. The final version will be printed on canvas and be 3ft x 2ft and made into a gallery wrap.

I think 30x20 or maybe 60x40 is just about the perfect size for these. The larger you get the further back you have to stand for it to make sense first than you can walk up close to see the detail.

I agree. I teach at the school in the picture and I'm going to hang it in my classroom. My principal thinks it would make for a good raffle prize.

If you have a lot of photos, it's not that hard...Tell the program which file is the source, which files to use to make it and let it go.
