I was in a rural section of New York for the holiday weekend. i went on a quick forest walk and at one point had this bird, a Magnolia Warbler, a Vireo and several others scolding me from the same tree.

Pretty shaded area, but I got a little light on it from the 580ex flash (no extender) @ ISO 1600. 100-400mm zoom mounted on my 40D.

The warblers are so beautiful to photograph, unfortunately, I haven't had much time or luck with them. Nice one.

Nice shot Dave, one of the warblers that nest on my ridge... this week I am getting many flying through.

Thanks! I agree, if you aren't calling them in (I'm not) they are very erratic.

Thanks db. I think my local hawkwatch is starting to see them too. Almost time for some sparrows to come in.

Thanks Pat, in my experience this type has a nice disposition too.

Thanks Stu. I didn't manage many shots, the birds got bored of me and moved further away and higher up into the forest.

Hi Norman, yes I think the shot could be improved with a little more flash power (or natural light), but the flash did preserve a decent amount of saturation and detail in this one.

Thanks Judy. I wish I could be more responsible for taking a cute picture, but I give all the credit to the bird.

Wonderful shot. I have enver seen one of these, but know that warblers seem to like the dark interiors of trees. :)
