Need Your Advice "BADLY"...Please

This is a bit off topic, but as you POTN guys and gals have become like family I have brought this problem here.

I've suspected for some time that my wife has been having an affair. The usual signs. Phone rings, I answer, someone hangs up. She started going out "with the girls" a lot recently although when I ask which girls, it's always "just some friends from work, you don't know them".

I always look for her ride coming home but she always walks from around the corner, I can usually hear a car driving off as she walks toward the house. If it really is a taxi why not just get dropped off in front? I once picked up her cell phone just to see what time it was and she went berserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again, and why I was checking up on her.

Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my wife. I think deep down I just didn't want to know the truth but last night she went out again and I decided to check on her. I decided I was going to hide behind my boat which would give me a view of the whole street so I could take pictures of the car she was getting out of. It was while I was lying beside my boat that I noticed a small scratch on my brand new 18-55mm kit lens. Should I take it back to the dealer for replacement or should I just take the opportunity to buy the 24-70mm "L" that I have always wanted? It's a big decision so I thought I would ask for your advice. Maybe I'll just try and buff off the scratch? I am very stressed about this scratch. Please help.

Man I am so sorry. I know if I had a scratch on one of my pieces of glass I'd have to be committed. Just take a deep breath and everything will work out. Don't do anything rash. By all means be gentle with her (the lens) and take her back for a new one if possible. Oh, and about the wife thing, please buddy I get Big Buck magazine from Canada, and I have seen some gorgeous woman from Alberta in there. Throw her out on her butt, have a drink, and find a new woman. At first I thought this was going to be difficult subject to give advice on.

Well, about the lens I'd say get that 24-70L. Forget about the kit lens, it sucks anyway. Might want to consider the 100-400L. That'd probably help with spying on the wife. Other than that, continue trying to find some sort of proof, and when you do, lawyer up and leave her pennyless. Since your the victum, that wont be very hard at all. Or you could always do the whole give her another chance thing, but eeehhhhhhhhh. There's a whole lot of woman in the world, the majority of which wont cheat on ya.

Then again, this could be a big misunderstanding and she isn't cheating on you afterall!

Look on the bright side:

1. You can stay home watching TV eating Pizza and she won't nag you.
2. She'll feel so guilty that you can indulge any hobby you want.
3. She'll be so happy with the new guy with the Sigma 300-800mm that she won't even notice the little 24-70mm L sticking out your bag.

There are something like 150 million women in this country. There are way fewer 24-70L lenses. Get the lens - it's much rarer.

you really have to priortise the wife enough said, get an L lens you will be so much happyer than using the kit lens

Ok so I'll be the one to ask......SOOOOOOOO what happened when she got home?? Did a cab drop her off or another car? and did you see who was driving? Also If this is for real, I would lay the camera down for a while and start talking and spending alittle more time with the wife. But that's just my humble opinion.

Maybe your wife scratched the lens so you wouldn't take pictures of her other man's car.

There is no car or other man, just trying to lighten up a Sunday afternoon with a little humor. She's hung me around for 26 years now, don't spose she'll throw me out any time soon. Although if she reads this thread I'd for sure get a cuff across the head...lol.
