I am thinking about buying a Canon 9500/II. However, the size of the ink cartridges seem rather small for a photo printer. Have any owners of the 9500 found this to be an issue?

For example, what would be an expected number of 8.5 x 11 typical prints for a set of cartridges (assuming that all are used somewhat the same)?

I am trying to determine an operational cost/print.

Supposedly, the shelf life is about 6 months once the cartridge is opened. Do you have any problems with inks drying and causing cartridge clogs?

Thanks

You are correct in your thinking. I have the 9000 (first version) that has the same size ink tanks. It seems that there's always at least one cartridge screaming "Low Ink Warning". You replace those and in no time at all another cartrridge or two start in with the warning. LOL
I find that the RGB and black cartridges last a fair bit but the photo cyan, photo magenta and yellow cartridges get used more frequently.
Ink usage bothered me much so that I bought the Epson 3800 and now use the Canon9000 to print out CAD drawings.
