I started this game ten months ago and at that time I really wanted a 100mm macro but due to timing of good deals and budget I bought other lenses first.
I just did a ebay search and I'm now watching nine 100mm macros and more on this site.I hope to pay about $400 for a mint copy by the end of next week!

Haha nice. If prices go low enough I might even ditch my idea of saving for the 100L and just get a used 100 instead :D

The worst that can happen is we get a great lens.

I might get this over the 150 macro simply 'cause of price. I keep dying for a macro lens and the 150 is still quite a bit more used. I would like the extra reach but maybe 100 will be fine. If not, I can resell. I'll wait for the 100L to officially come out, have great reviews, and then people will really start dumping.

Why do you think the 100mm macro will go any lower?

That is a good plan, just keep an eye out for the 150, it is a fun lens. I dug it out to do a quick "dewrise" shot this morning! Sometimes you can pick up one heck of a deal on the 150, just depends what the selling motivation is.

Just sold mine for $515. *shrug* I do not think prices will be significantly lower.

Yes people will sell more in next two months, so there're deals to be had on e-bay (if sellers make some mistakes, like odd end time, wrong category etc.) But in general, Canon still sells it for $599. So the only thing that's hurting right now is their sells (while people getting mint copies elsewhere).

It's been a year since I sold all my gears and quit, but ARE YOU FOR REAL???

I used to get brand new 100mm macro (yes it is my favorite lens) around 430 bucks, and mint or refurbished for around 370

can't believe it went up that high. 600???
