I was wonderig what is the reason behind the 3 minute video limit on the s45?

I have tried the S45 with a 512MB card and the number of seconds left to record show 999" however after 180 seconds the video stops.

I don't believe that it has anything to do with caching as the camera seems to constantly write to the CF card while videoing.

Can anyone shed light as to why this limitation is imposed?

Hey Meerkat,

Do you really care about video on a still camera?

I was thinking of writing to Canon asking them to forget about this feature in future designs and maybe improve on (admittedly already great) still capabilities of their cameras.

I would gladly trade the video on my S45 for a few grams less weight, an f2 lens or a more powerful zoom motor, for example.
