Who does the 7D steal customers from?

With the introduction of the 7D, Canon has created a new camera lineup. Since it's new, it will be interesting to see which customer base this camera will pull buyers from. So in your opinion, what group of customers are the most likely to buy the 7D who would have otherwise bought an existing model. The 7D has enough features to make buyers of existing camera's to at least pause for a second. For example

The 19pt AF, 8 fps, and Dual Digic IV at $3000 less than a 1D MKIII / IV is enough to give potential 1D MKXXX buyers a second thought
The advanced Video features and excellent high ISO noise at $1000 less than a 5D MKII is enough to give pontential 5D MKII buyers a look
The overall increased capabilities at just $300 more than the 50D/60D prices point is enough to give XXD buyers a though of saving a little more

You left out the Nikon 300s group.

I'd say it's the 50D customer that's OK with shelling out a little more cash for extra features.

SPORTS MACROGRAPHERS.

Mostly 50D customers wanting the extra features. Those who love and use FF are not likely to jump ship!

I have a 5D II but I'd like 7D for sports.

I found about the 7D, sold a 5D, and bought a 1DmkIII.

So, for me at least, it's not stealing sales from anything.

i think it'll pull customers equally from 50d and 1d mark III.

Ed, I think the little 7D will pull more 1D MKIII customers than our members are willing to admit. But it will be a dirtly little secret for a 1D MKIII buyer to admit that the 7D at $3000 less than a new 1D MKXXX is pure sex appeal.

BBD -- there are lots of 1d users now, more than i've ever seen. i think in these tough financial times many will opt for the 7d, especially if it's a back-up to a FF camera.

that said, if the 7d is 70% as good as people seems to think it will be, the 1d mark IV will be the true image monster but then we have the problem of price again.

Agree. The 7D will be attractive to potential D300(s) buyers as well as someone going for a 50D.

I think it's all Canon, so it doesn't really matter. lol. Nikon, perhaps?

i waited til the official announcement to see specs on the 7d before i decided anything... after it was announced i sold my 5d classic

for a 5d mark ii... i like FF
