you bought the 5d II for the wrong reasons. for what it does there is no better value out there than the 5d II. i had the 5d classic and i never understood the rap it took for having poor AF.

ed rader

It has good AF for -some- things..

I personally wanted more than 9-points :) That is all

And i never bought a 5DII for that reason, it wasnt the right body for me, But it gets such a reputation and everyone parrots "Buy a 5D" whenever someone looks at a new body i did consider it and thought of paying $2700 for a 5D2 and then "living" with the limitations and the fact it wasnt what i really wanted because -everyone- lauds over that body...

And it might be that theres some lenses they want, But their body is a little long in the tooth thats all :)

If the AF is as good as the specs imply, it will surely force the 1D, non s prices down. Not everybody needs weather sealing and "tougher" construction. Although I would like to think I do, I am realistic and now understand that I don't need tough(er). I never thought I did to start with, although weather sealing would be nice.

For a non FF, the 7D seems to be lacking little if abything, imo, to make it a very capable camera, imo. Also a significant "upgrade" from the 50D, imo.

Lots of imo's ;-)a

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

A lot of people might apreciate the ability to drop the grip at home and travel light too...

Seconded, I really cant think of much they can add to the 7D...After the 7D it could be a while before i actually upgraded it..

If the IQ is good and alll the features work as their design, I will sell my 50D to fund for a 7D. Because of that, I vote for xxD users.

7D is on my list - The extra pixel density over the 50D is a small step up on the 50D - but nevertheless a step up from 45pixmm2 to 54 pixmm2 (If my sums are correct) - this 20% increase can be considered an increase in telephoto lens length for wildlife - can it not?
The AF Microadjustment as on the 50D etc is also a godsend - More responsive autofocus has got to be a plus.

I dunno much about movie mode - but it looks as if I will be learning soon.
I may not pass the 50D on straight away but it looks as if I not be using it much when I eventually get the 7D.

People on the forum mention the 60D - Is it going to happen? Or is the 7D going to replace the 50D and xxD series.

Next move - blimey! What else can a camera do? I suppose the logical next step will be an 8D with a new type of 'noiseless' sensor and 100mpix stuffed into it.

The 50D was leaps and bounds over the 40D so what will the 7D be.

At the moment i have the 450D, have given some good thought to move upto the 5D2 but now this 7D does look more appealing, but i don't do sports and mainly do portraits, macro and scape shots....ahhhhhhhhhhh the choice is killing me.

Will the 7D get a title of being a minature 1D???

Only if you give it that title.
