I was at Reifel bird sanctuary yesterday and I caught this guy. I was less than 20 feet but he didn't mind. I'm still learning how to use my new glass so it's a little noisy.

I thought I'd share here anyways:

Nice shots. I've been looking for this particular Bird all summer with no luck.

@Pat,
sometimes luck comes in a way of a fellow birder pointing me to the right place. Been looking for him for the whole day. Then at the parking lot while putting my stuff away when this guy mentioned woody feeding behind the cars.

Yup he was huge!

@Artyman,
you might be right. I'm a newbie and still not good enough to shoot manual. I'm just an Av shooter at the moment.

If you shoot RAW you can tweak the exposure in DPP ;)

Nice captures... I think you'll find most here shoot in AV mode for birds..

Nice photo. I have had one flying around the woods in back of my house but no luck with a photo.
