What do you think is the best canon lens out there (you don't have to own it)?

Name the lens, what you use it for, and what makes it so great.

Happy Posting,:)

Frying insects

Hold the lens in your hand, place an insect of your choice in a place where it is basically immobilized, and let the sun shine through the lens and directly onto the bugga. Watch and enjoy.

My 70-200 f/4 L is the best lens I own. Sharpness and IQ amazingly are superior to all of my other lenses at similar apertures.

I however, cannot comment on other lenses I have never owned or used.

Good question. But does the answer really matter?

I would have agreed on a 600L or 800L if only I have one....:) 500L is good enough for me and for most people, I think.

nice bonus you get there

for me it's the 35mm F1.4.

- Sharp wide open
- Great field of view for using it as a walk around for everything
- 3D kind of images
- Not white
- Not to big and to heavy
- Nicely built
