Off to Sri Lanka in 2 weeks carnt wait? I have been getting everything ready and I have had some good advice on a previous thread which has helped me a lot. I am pretty new to cameras anyway, and as it is also my wedding aniversary whilst on holls I would like to take some photos of the wife in the evening on our holls and on our aniversary. I was looking at setting the c3 button on my canon 40d with a 17-85 lense can anyone help with recomending the settings?

Canon 7d2Canon Eos 7d 500f4 is 300f2.8 24-105 IS 100-is macro 580ex11

Evening is too broad of a topic area for any useful advice beyond this: Get a general book on photography and spend some time (including evenings) reading and practicing what you have read.

Before you go to Sri Lanka why don't you take a few pics of your wife in the evening at home, in the park or where ever??

Makes sense to me..

+1 ^^^ Hate to be cliche, but "practice makes perfect".
If you shoot with the sun or bright part of the sky behind your subject(s) and dial down your pop-up flash a bit (unless you have an off camera flash that you can over to one side) you can get some pretty snazzy looking shots.

Also don't forget that it takes two to get married and thus have a wedding anniversary in the first place, so get insurance, and use your tripod (which I recommended getting it in your other thread) and your self timer, and get in there with your honey-bunny!
If you were shooting anniversary shots for another couple you wouldn't just shoot the wife would ya? :D
