Here are a few shots from Sam(antha)'s first shoot. She is 16 and looking to do some modeling. Catalogs and the like.

C&C always welcomed.

I personally like the 1st the best. I know it's just the attraction to the processing talking here, but to me that's part of the package. While I do agree her eyes being half shut isn't the greatest, I still picked this one.

I really do like 4 as well, however the flannel shirt on her wrist is distracting me and seems kinda out of place. I don't get it.

I love the location, your lighting is good, and the model is a winner. Good job.

Thanks for the praise. As for the shirt: the shots were done as move of a clothing ad or catalog style - so the clothes needed to stay in the shot.

The closed eyes? Yeah, we were having an issue with that. She was just so squinty the whole time. I pulled out all the stops to help prevent it but it was a 'no go for launch' on getting open eyed shots that day. :)

Really nice. She's got great eyes and I think that she should learn to use them more (i.e. concentrate on keeping them more open for shots). It's a shame that in some of them she's got them half closed (esp #2 and #5).

Love #4.

Yes #1 she looks like she's falling asleep, her eyes. Eyes rather closed in #2. If she has eyes that are very sensitive to light (making her eyelids close more) she might not be that suited to modeling.

None of these shots seem like they were outside in sunlight. If she were in such conditions, would her eyes be wide open or squinting again?

Having said what I did about her eyes, the look she has in #4 is absolutely perfect.

She can pull off "kid" and "young woman" equally well. I like #1 & #4 most.

Unfortunately, she looks kind of undead in #3, if that makes sense.

These are really great. I agree about the shirt as extra in the shots just does not look right. I understand about keeping the clothes in the shot but it is possible that the plaid pattern does not "go with" the mood of the shots and so therefore stands out. For instance would not look so out of place in a more sunny barnyard or casual setting. A different shirt for the mood of these would have been okay I think. Does that make sense?

much agreed on choice of clothing....and also on the eyes....as awesome as they are, SHOW them!! She should do well and your shots help her along the way!
