Yup, the formally JP only U2410 is now in the US (and perhaps Canada). For those who don't remember, it's the successor to the 2408WFP, except with an IPS screen and 12bit processing (like a higher priced EIZO, LaCie, or NEC). Lower contrast than the 2408WFP, and slightly lower brightness if I remember correctly, so should be better for calibration than the 2408WFP was.

I predicted on another thread that this monitor would overshadow the Dell 2209WA for popularity. At $599 USD, that's almost a certainty. As soon as Dell releases a decent "double secret coupon" discount, I'm ready to buy one.

But the one thing I'm concerned about is Dell's implementation of DDC controls. Since I started using ColorEyes Display Pro calibrating software, I've learned that Dell insists on using a non-industry standard version of DDC, not supported by the ColorEyes software. And so this function doesn't work with my Dell 2209WA, even though it is "DDC Enabled". I wonder if Dell will make that same mistake on this new model.

Wow! Dell Small Business DID have a coupon deal which just expired! $479 USD and free shipping! Dell tends to repeat these deals, so keep your eyes open!

Hmm. That looks promising. I'm happy with my 24" HP LP2475w, but if I need another I may look into this.

This is definitely on my radar screen for an upcoming purchase for the new computer I'll be building when Windows 7 comes out...

So what was the final net price? $445?

Rings up as $495, but then you get confirming email from Bing.com that you get $49 back after something like 90 days (they want to make sure you don't return it). Bing cash is actually directly from Microsoft. BTW, also free shipping right now.

How did you search for it through Bing? I only get some soundbar accessory, not the actual monitor itself.

I initially had the same problem.

I should be receiving my Dell 2209WA tomorrow from Dell. Just found this thread and saw that the U2410 is $494 with coupon until Thursday. Is the U2410 worth the extra $200? Also I sit on my couch and edit pics so viewing angle is important b/c I shift around on the couch. ;)

Currently, I have a Wacom Cintiq 1200 and being able to edit directly on the screen is awesome but the resolution and color rendition is poor.

Answer to that, maybe, maybe not. And you know you can use the Cintiq and another monitor right? And in fact, some use the second monitor for color correction and cintiq for editing.
