Lost somehow - most likely got yanked out when I reached into pockets to pull something else out [I keep my done pics in my pants and suit jacket side pockets].

Only 2nd time I've done so in 4 years of shooting, second time out of probably at least 100 plus gigs.

That's the problem with big cards. When you lose them, you lose a lot of pics.

I was worried that I had completely lost all coverage of one band - Remedy Drive - which put on an incredible show and had some great lighting on them.

Luckily, every band I shot, I had spread over two cards, so though I lost almost 400 shots of the one band. I luckily had another 100 plus shots on another card and thus, was able to still pull together a bunch of good shots.

However, I lost coverage of the crowd and of the bassist [they were shot earlier on the card I lost].

Yeah, there's a good tip in there. Big cards are great for not having to stop and change during a band's set, but good practice would be to change cards, spread shots out on two cards in case one gets lost or goes bad.

Get a Gepe card case or something like that. Card comes out of the camera and goes into the case, case goes securely into the bag...at least in theory. You'd be really screwed if you lost the case with all your cards, but it's big enough that you can probably keep track of it.

Or get a bigger card and not have to change cards. ;)

That's one thing I hate about SD cards. Too easy to lose.

SD cards spook me because of just that, they're tiny and easily misplaced.

Yes, the SD cards are awful, so small! I have 4gb cards and 1 8gb and when I read these threads, I get really sad. I use a think tank 10 card wallet and have it strapped to my wrist at events. One card comes out, one goes in. So it I don't lose anything and it's easy access and all numbered. I can go through all 10 cards at a long event so I must have it organized. Hope you find it. Did you check your pockets and all little cracks? I found my earring in my photo backpack one time under all everything. I know I didn't drop it in there, but there it was!

I check out the wrist wallet. That's kind of what I am looking for as I am trying to ditch having to carry a bag.

Also, make sure that you have your email address on each of your cards.

I can't write that small (for SD cards).

Great advice though. I'll have to get my CF's labeled.

I actually lost a small pouch with a spare 8GB SD card (nothing on it) in it at a major soccer tourney. I was fortunate enough that someone turned it into lost & found and I got it back a couple of days later when I returned to photograph the championship games.

I label everything. And I do carry a black Sharpie with me at all times. I've also had stuff returned to me that have gone lost. I bought a Brother label maker 2 years ago and have put my name and e-mail address on everything.
