I looked out my kitchen window and for some reason I looked down and saw this little guy (or girl) basking in the sun. We have one of those spiral looking bushes (can't remember what they're called) and it was literally on the lowest part of the spiral. I took the first picture through my window, but went outside to get close ups. It was still early and chilly outside so I didn't want to disturb it. I just let it stay there in the warmth while I snapped off a few shots.

I've lived in my current house for 3 years now and this is the first snake sighting I've ever had. I was as excited about it as a little kid would be. I just LOVE snakes! I miss being a kid where I used to go out to catch snakes, turtles, and frogs. Ahhh... the memories... :D

Great photos of a Garter snake not Gardener snake. Garter snake named after a peice of womans undergarmets a Garter because of the stripes on it. ;)

Maybe the snake does landscaping?

If you want to get technical the name is actually derived from a piece of MEN'S apparel that was used to prevent their socks from slipping down their calf.

Thanks everyone... I did google Garter Snake and according to Wikipedia it says...

they are sometimes called garden snakes, gardner snakes or gardener snakes, or even garder snakes or guarder snakes.

This is why I stuck with Gardener. That's how I've always known them. :)
